3 Ways Small Hair Changes Can Make a Big Difference
Long or short, curly or straight, side part or middle?
Blunt-cut bangs or long, face-framing layers?
We get it. Hair decisions are difficult! With so many options to consider it can be challenging to go all-in on a dramatic hairstyle change. We’re here to help you with what’s in style, what fits your personality, what works with your hair texture and desired level of styling and maintenance.
If you’re ready for a change in your hairstyle, you can make a huge difference even with small hair changes. Read on for some ways to easily change up your look for the day—or longer—with little effort!
Rethink your part
A quick way to refresh your look in no time is to move your hair’s part—a little, or a lot. If you’re accustomed to parting on one side, incorporate a simple change by switching it to the other. Hair that normally lays to one side will likely thank you with an extra volume boost when you flip it a little differently. Or, if your hair is on the finer side, let our FS Thick & Full Root Booster assist. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easily this change makes your hairstyle feel refreshed.
You can also try a smoothed-down center part for a quick change-up to your appearance, or part ways with your hair’s part altogether. If your hair color is growing out at the roots, an easy way to disguise the new growth is to add volume at the roots, and avoid parting your hair anywhere. Pushing the hair back from the face, or upward to the side while tousling at the root will help add texture and take the focus off of your roots until we see you in the salon.
Switch up your style
When you find a style that you love, it’s difficult to stray from the tried-and-true. After all, getting compliments on that new haircut or sleek topknot style are motivation enough to stick with a routine. Sometimes, though, it’s nice to have a change, and an easy way to do that is to switch up your hairstyle.
If you normally opt for the topknot or high ponytail, try a lower-on-the-head or a low side version.
Always wear your hair down? Try different variations of the classic ponytail or bun!
Straight or fine hair? Try adding some curls or waves with a styling tool, or better yet, style as you sleep with strategically placed braids.
Do you alternate between an all-up or down style? Try a little of both with a half-up style.
However you’re accustomed to styling your hair on a daily basis, we encourage you to try the opposite. You just never know what fantastic new favorite hairstyle you’ll find!
Bangs or no bangs
Adding bangs to your hairstyle can be as small of a change—or as dramatic—as you desire. Longer length curtain bangs are very trendy and blend into the longer sides of the hair while still adding some dimension to your style. They are also long enough to be pulled back and hidden if your preferences change.
If you’ve been considering adding some fringe to your style, talk to your stylist about the best way to incorporate them. You might opt for angled, side-swept bangs that can either be styled down or pushed to the side if you’re just not into them that particular day.
Who knows—one of these longer, less dramatic options could lead to thicker blunt-cut bangs and a major hairstyle transformation.
